Your Genuine Gerard® roof can do so much more than keep the weather out. Use your Gerard ® roof to keep out the weather you don’t want, like wind and rain, and invite in natural day light using our innovative Sun Tunnels.
The Gerard ® Sun tunnel comes in three parts:
1) The acrylic dome that sits in the roof captures natural light. The dome comes ready formed in a Genuine Gerard ® roof tile, so it fits seamlessly with the rest of the roof. The domed shape ensures it captures the maximum amount of light and the material is strong against tree debris etc.
2) The light then travels down into the home through a flexible metal tube. The polished metal reflects the light from it’s surface so that it “bounces” down the tube. Being flexible means you can direct the light to exactly where you need it.
3) Where you need the natural light, the tube connects to a diffuser which is attached to your ceiling like an electric light fitting would be.
The diffuser is made in a specific way which ensures that the light is spread out into the room. Using the sun tunnel means you can be less reliant on electric lighting and on electricity itself. During daylight hours, you could substitute electric lighting altogether:
